How to Measure a Suspected Fake Loewe Bag
- Empty the bag completely, including any paper or stuffing the seller shipped inside it.
- Close every zip and align the flap or top edge the way it sits when the bag is worn.
- Lay the bag on a flat table, or stand it upright if the base sits level that way.
- Measure the width across the widest point, outer edge to outer edge. Do not squeeze the sides together or pull them apart.
- Measure the height from the base seam to the top edge of the bag body. Keep handles, straps, and tassels out of the number.
- Measure the depth at the base gusset, which is the deepest part of the bag.
- Measure the strap drop from the top of the strap arc down to the top edge of the bag body.
- Repeat each measurement twice and record the larger reading in centimeters. Convert to inches by dividing by 2.54.

Leather is a natural material. A 5 mm gap in any direction is normal, and 1 cm of width variation on a soft, unstructured bag is common. Depth readings vary most, because gussets fold flat during storage and relax over time.
Red flags
- Width off by 2 cm or more in either direction.
- Height off by 1.5 cm or more, measured base seam to top edge.
- Proportions swapped, such as the width of a Medium with the height of a Small.
- Strap drop that differs by more than 3 cm from the figure for that size.
- Interior zip or slip pocket length that does not match the bag class it claims to be.
When the Size Is Right but the Bag Still Looks Wrong
Dimensions are a filter, not a verdict. A counterfeit can match the spec to the millimeter. Check the stitch count per centimeter, the embossed Loewe lettering and the proportion of the anagram, the weight and engraving on the hardware, the interior leather tag and its code, and the grain and smell of the leather. A genuine bag can also measure short after years of use, stretching, and reshaping.
