What the Lindy is

Hermès uses the same pattern for sizes listed as Mini, 26, 30, and 34. Dimension figures differ by source, so treat any single table as approximate. The bag can be carried by hand or on the shoulder with a longer strap on some sizes.
What "Swift" means
Swift is a goatskin with a fine grain and a soft hand. Hermès used the name Gulliver for this leather before the current name. Dye takes well, and the surface shows marks and scratches with use. The Lindy also comes in Clemence, Togo, Evercolor, and exotic skins. A Swift Lindy slouches more than a Clemence version because the leather is lighter.
How counterfeit Lindy bags differ
- Leather: most fakes use chrome-tanned cowhide, split grain, or polyurethane. Swift has an even, fine grain and a light weight.
- Stitching: Hermès uses a two-needle saddle stitch, sewn by hand. Fakes show a machine lockstitch with tighter, smaller spacing.
