Copies split into three bands. Below $300 the bag uses bonded leather, painted edges and loose stitching. From $300 to $600 the seller adds a box and a stamp. From $600 to $900 the bag copies the shape and the stamp placement, but the leather and the strap stay wrong. Real Evelyne 29 bags list on resale sites from $2,300 to $4,000. A price below $1,000 with an "authentic" claim is a copy.
What US law says
18 U.S.C. 2320 makes trafficking in counterfeit goods a federal crime. A first offense carries up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $2 million for an individual. - Count the perforation spacing on the H. Measure the gap in the same spot on both sides.
- Turn the bag to the back and check the slip pocket shape and the strap anchor stitching.
- Look at the strap ends. Real leather tabs taper and are stitched with matched thread.
- Weigh the bag in your hand. Copy bags read light for the size.
- Send photos to a paid authenticator. Hermes boutiques do not authenticate bags bought outside the brand.
