Short answer
Fake Burberry bags have no published dimensions. No replica factory releases a spec sheet, and sizes change from batch to batch. The workable method is the reverse: measure the bag in your hand, then compare each measurement to the dimensions Burberry lists on the product page for that model. Burberry publishes height, width, depth, and strap drop in centimeters.
Most counterfeits miss the depth and the strap drop. Body width and height land close because those are the numbers buyers check. Gusset depth and hardware size get less attention.
Why counterfeit sizes drift
A counterfeit is built from a photo, a sample, or a pattern copied from a sample. Three things push the finished size off:
- Lining and interlining thickness. Thicker foam adds 1 to 2 cm at the base.
- Pattern alignment. The check must line up across seams. A cheaper cut shifts the seam line, which changes the outline.
- Hardware weight. A lighter clasp lets the top edge pull in.
Deviation of 1 to 3 cm on a filled bag is common. Deviation above 3 cm on any axis points to a different model, not a bad batch.
How to check dimensions in 5 steps
- Identify the model. Read the interior label, the stamp on the leather patch, and the style code.
- Open the Burberry product page for that model. Copy the listed height, width, depth, and strap drop.
- Empty the bag. Lay it flat. Press the seams flat. Measure at the widest point with a soft tape.
- Measure base depth at the gusset, not at the top opening. The two numbers differ on structured bags.
- Measure strap drop from the top of the strap to the top edge of the bag body.
Points to measure
- Width at the base seam
- Height from base seam to top edge
- Depth at the gusset, bag empty
- Handle drop, measured inside the handle
- Strap drop at the shortest and longest setting
- Hardware width at the clasp or buckle
Red flags that pair with size
Size alone does not settle a question. Check these:
- The word "Burberrys" on a bag made after 1999. The house dropped the plural in 1999.
- Interior label sewn off-center, or with a visible knot.
- Check pattern cut at the front seam. Burberry aligns the pattern across the seam.
- Stitching at 4 stitches per inch on the strap. Burberry straps run 6 to 8 per inch.
